This position provides support to the 46 Test Squadron at Eglin AFB. This support includes the following:
Performs as a member of the Tactical Data Link test team.
Plans and conducts initial and regression developmental tests on various Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) or Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) radio terminals and their variants (Small Tactical Terminal); and, Situation Awareness Data Link (SADL)
Lead engineer in planning, developing, executing, and reporting on data link test operations including SADL, and others (Link 16).
Coordinates data link equipment integration on military ground and airborne platforms
Directly supports other engineers when interacting with System Program Offices, other services, Joint Battle Labs as well as development contractors.
Writes test plans and procedures for test execution involving data link test assets.
Develops and reviews test architectures for the system under test and coordinates test assets, support assets, and data collection device availability to ensure successful test events.
Supports the data analysis working group to resolve identified deficiencies.
Conducts technical research, development, test and evaluation, and reporting of emerging technological systems affecting the performance of all datalink test programs.
Analyzes post test results in a timely fashion so as to meet final test reporting timelines.
Identifies areas for improvement and recommend technical solutions required to meet assigned task.
Attends meetings as necessary to provide briefings, information, recommendations.
Reviews technical test plans and reports for technical accuracy.
Supports Developmental Test (DT), Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), System Acceptance Tests (SAT) and System Regression Test (SRT), etc. as required.
Travels to TDY locations to perform or conduct test procedures, data management, data reduction, data analysis, configuration management, hardware setup, and hardware troubleshooting and provide/write deficiency evaluation, deficiency reporting, recommendations, and official test reports.
BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related technical field (i.e., CS, AE, ME, etc.) and a minimum of 3 years of applicable experience is required. Six years of applicable technical experience may be substituted for the technical BS degree requirement (total of 9 years) or four years of experience with an applicable Associates Degree (total of 7 years).
Relevant technical experience highly desired in the areas related to tactical data links, data link radios, radio frequency waves and propagation, computer networks.
Experience in net-centric information systems is required. Experience in tactical datalinks interoperability testing, implementation and operations is required.
An understanding of development test and evaluation processes, specifically - acquisition program development and detailed knowledge of Air Force Command and Control (C2) test methodologies including AFI 99-103 is highly desired.
Previous technical and test experience in SADL radios and tactical data links messages & associated military standards relative to C4ISR are highly desired.
Must be capable of traveling to contractors' facilities, test sites, and other locations.
Must possess effective oral and written communications skills, and must be comfortable working in a team environment.
Proficiency in the use and integration of MS Office applications required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. A current and active Secret security clearance is required.
