As a Information Technology Specialist( INFOSEC), you will be responsible for for defining and managing information technology (IT) and/or cybersecurity related programs and/or projects.Typical work assignments include:
- Oversee the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
- Promote awareness of security issues among management and ensure sound security principles are reflected in the organization's visions and goals.
- Conduct Privacy Impact Analysis (PIA) of the applications security design for the appropriate security controls, which protect the confidentiality and integrity of Personal Identifiable Information (PII).
- Design a cybersecurity strategy that outlines the vision, mission, and goals that align with the organization's strategic plan. Assess and manage privacy risks associated with cybersecurity programs, operations, and technology and ensure compliance with agency privacy program requirements.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position may be designated as essential personnel. To qualify for this position at the GS-15 level grade level (starting salary $121,280.00) you must meet the following requirements:
You must possess IT related experience in each of the required competencies that includes1) developing new Information Technology (IT) and cybersecurity policies, standards, and methods(Attention to Detail); 2) collaborating with other IT experts throughout the organization or in other organizations on IT and cybersecurity policies, problems, and issues (Customer Service); 3) developing, managing, and maintaining Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) to identify and mitigate privacy risks (Problem Solving); and 4) serving as a senior expert and consultant to senior management officials in order to advise on integrating IT programs with other programs within the organization(Oral Communication). In addition,have at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector) performing the following duties: Overseeing policy standards and implementation strategies to ensure procedures and guidelines comply with cybersecurity policies; and conducting Privacy Impact Analysis (PIA) of the applications security design for the appropriate security controls, which protect the confidentiality and integrity of Personal Identifiable Information (PII). National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
