The successful candidate will assist the 53d Electronic Warfare Group (53 EWG), 53d Wing, at Eglin AFB, Florida. The 53 EWG is the technical focal point for all electronic warfare (EW) support of warfighter systems for the Combat Air Forces (CAF). The mission of the 53 EWG is to develop and test mission data (MD) to defeat enemy radar and infrared guided missile systems, thus enhancing aircrew and aircraft survivability in combat. This mission includes operational EW testing, MD development/validation/verification, force development evaluation execution and facilitating foreign materiel exploitation.

Desired knowledge, skills and abilities associated with this position include:

  • Knowledge, skills and attributes associated with this position(s) include: EW and the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum, computer software, threat warning, radio frequency (RF) jammers, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) jammers, expendables, threat analysis, foreign/US/radar/weapon systems, airborne EW computer software, avionics, systems integration, electronics engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to a broad range of engineering assignments. Candidates must be analytical, methodical and detail-oriented.

  • Skill in the application of engineering expertise specific to electronic warfare systems theory and equipment operation specific to radar, radar warning receivers, missile warning systems, active countermeasures, RF and IR expendable systems, fundamentals of aircraft avionics, and systems integration to assist teams in designing and conducting comprehensive studies, and developing solutions to problems.

  • Skill in applying engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to a broad range of engineering assignments.

The successful candidate will conduct EW research, MD development and MD testing. The successful candidate will support EW system programming/reprogramming, work with EW system engineers to coordinate programming/reprogramming requirements, prepare validation and verification test plans, and organize and participate in MD configuration control boards. The successful candidate will assist with the collection, recording, and post-test analysis of data generated during MD testing. The successful candidate may be required to travel.


Education and Experience:

Candidates must have at least a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, another engineering discipline or Physics with 0 to 3 years of engineering and/or testing experience.

They must also have a demonstrated ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations.

Applicants must have a working knowledge of computer systems and an understanding of Windows-based personal computers and Microsoft Office software and possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.

It highly desirable (but not required) for a candidate to possess attributes to include previous experience with modern digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) programming, RF integration, EM spectrum management, antenna design, digital signal processing and demonstrate a high level of experience in modeling/simulation.


  • Highly desired is knowledge of EW weapons systems development, test and evaluation, and systems engineering.

  • Candidates without an active Secret security clearance must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Candidate must be a United States Citizen to obtain a security clearance.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium- Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

Equipment and Machines:

  • Personal computer (75%), scanner (5%), copy machine (5%), telephone (5%), laser printer (5%), fax machine (2%), and other office equipment including desk supplies.


  • Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday(excluding Saturday & Sunday).

  • Position may require occasional weekend work depending on task requirements.

  • Regular attendance is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings.

  • Must be able to work within the shift hours of 6 am and 6 pm

Other Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to obtain and hold a secret security clearance.

  • Must pass drug testing.

  • Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

  • With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.
